The Middleman - Fighting Evil So You Don't Have To

I just saw the premiere episode of a new TV series called The Middleman. Based on a comic book, this show is a blend of sci-fi, action and comedy that will please the geek at heart. If you like watching Torchwood, Men In Black and Get Smart, you just might like The Middleman. The dialog is great to listen to with lots of pop culture references from comics to music. The show is on Monday nights at 8:00pm eastern on ABC Family.

Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) thought mindless temp jobs were tough. Then she bravely faced a creature way beyond the bounds of her reality, and in so doing, impressed the straight-laced hero known as the Middleman (Matt Keeslar). Hello, new career! Now she's balancing her art, her friends, and saving the planet while battling alien evils for the world's most ludicrously secret organization. "The Middleman" -- fighting evil so you don't have to.

One of the other things that I liked is that The Middleman cruises around in a black Dodge Charger.
Much better than a POS Ford LTD.

Rapidweaver 4.0.1 Released

Realmac Software Release RapidWeaver 4.0.1 on June 6th 2008. I downloaded the new version and finally tried it out today. I like the new layout of the tool bars and menus. It also seemed to process the updates much faster that before.

2009 Dodge Challenger SE
With a U.S. MSRP of $21,995 (including $675 destination), the Dodge Challenger SE comes standard with a 3.5-liter High Output V-6 engine which produces 250 horsepower (186 kW) and 250 lb.-ft. (339 N•m) of torque. Mated with a four-speed automatic transmission, the Dodge Challenger SE achieves an estimated 18 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

2009 Dodge Challenger R/T
The U.S. MSRP for the all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T is $29,995. Featuring the new-generation 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, the Dodge Challenger R/T produces an estimated 370 horsepower (276 kW) and 398 lb.-ft. (540 N•m) of torque when paired with the standard five-speed automatic transmission. The 5.7-liter HEMI engine with five-speed automatic transmission is equipped with fuel-saving multi-displacement (MDS) technology which increases fuel economy by as much as 20 percent without sacrificing performance.

Dodge Challenger SRT8
The U.S. MSRP for the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is $39,995 (including $675 destination). The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers an available six-speed manual transmission or standard five-speed automatic transmission mated to the SRT-exclusive 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine that produces 425 horsepower (317 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Cartoon Network has announced Batman: The Brave and The Bold, a new animated series slated to debut in 2008.

"Batman isn't going at it alone this time! From Warner Bros. Animation comes the latest interpretation of the classic Batman franchise. Our caped crusader is teamed up with heroes from across the DC Universe, delivering nonstop action and adventure with a touch of comic relief. Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Aquaman and countless others will get a chance to uphold justice alongside Batman. Though still based in Gotham, Batman will frequently find himself outside city limits, facing situations that are both unfamiliar and exhilarating. With formidable foes around every corner, Batman will still rely on his stealth, resourcefulness and limitless supply of cool gadgets to bring justice home."

The series, consisting of 30-minute episodes, will be produced by James Tucker and Linda M. Steiner -- the team behind Legion of Super Heroes -- and will be executive produced by Sam Register. The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 features an SRT-exclusive 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine mated with a new-for-2009 six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick that generates a blistering 425 horsepower (317 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (569 N•m). Patterned off the Dodge Charger architecture, the front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension system on all Dodge Challenger models provide excellent ride and handling characteristics.
Essential Styling
The Dodge Challenger design team stayed true to the concept revealed at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, while drawing upon elements from the original Challenger. The result: a bold, aggressive muscle machine that blends nostalgia with modern Dodge style.

DC Infinite Heroes

Mattel has revealed a new line of 3.75 inch action figures called DC Infinite Universe.

I've always said that there should be a 3.75 inch DC Universe with realistic sculpts and limited articulation similar to Star Wars figures.

DC Direct tried Pocket Superheroes, but not realistic enough for me.
DC Minimates, look cool but not a collection I would go after.

Mattel's DC Infinite Heroes finally got it right.

Dodge Challenger Dashboard

The new Dodge Challenger SRT8 was revealed on February 6th. It's a beautiful car on the outside, but kind of plain on the inside. What happened from concept to production? It looks like Dodge pulled some parts from other cars rather then do a redesign of the dashboard.

The gauges on the Dodge Challenger concept were designed to look like engine cylinders.

This is the dashboard from the Dodge Challenger concept car. Notice the trapezoid shapes everywhere. The dash and console have a nice contrast. I love that 3 pronged steering wheel and the pistol grip shifter.

Here is another concept dashboard for the Dodge Challenger. They refined the gauges on this one. I like the silver color frame around the gauges. I hope this makes it into the 2009 model. The pistol grip shifter is gone and the radio and temperature dials are from the current parts bin. So is the steering wheel, which is the same as on the Dodge Charger and Magnum.

Here is the official 2008 Dodge Challenger dashboard. The gauges have been changed to look like the Dodge Charger with raised bezels and chrome rings. There is now a recessed area around the temperature gauges. This dashboard looks kind of boring. It needs some contrasting chrome or colored panels.

Here is the current Dodge Charger and Dodge Magnum dashboard. Notice the same steering wheel and the similarly styled chrome ringed gauged cluster. At least this dashboard has contrasting colors in the panels and face plates.

Just for fun, here is the dashboard from a 1973 Dodge Charger. Notice it also has raised bezels with chrome rings on it. I really like this steering wheel which inspired the Dodge Challenger concept car steering wheel design. The dash also has a splash of color to it.

Ms. Victory faces an unexpected reaction from her husband, the man known as Paragon; when he learns that a clone made from genetic material harvested unknowingly from himself and Ms V may exist. On Monday December 3, 2007, Dodge started taking preorders for the 2008 Dodge Challenger. On the first day more that 4,300 people put down a deposit for a Challenger. As of today, more than 6,600 people have placed preorders. It looks like Dodge will have a big seller on their hands.

To celebrate, they have released some teaser photos of the production version.

Dodge has announced the pricing for the SRT version of the 2008 Dodge Challenger. Normally Dodge releases the SRT version after the regular production models. This time around they are releasing a limited number of SRT models first, before the normal production run.

$37,995 plus $2,100 Gas-guzzler penalty = $40,095 Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price.
Add on Dealer mark-up, fees and taxes and you might pay $43,000 to $50,000 for one of the limited run 2008 Challenger SRT8.

Dodge Challenger Uncovered in Vegas

Photos of the production version of the 2008 Dodge Challenger have surfaced from a dealer event in Vegas.

The front grill looks like the 1970's version and not the cross-hair style that was on the concept car.

The B-pillar doesn't look that big. The rear bumper is bigger to improve safety.

The rear end has tail lights and a rear trunk lid spoiler like the 1970 Dodge Challenger.

Dodge Challenger Design Change?

I can't wait to see what the production version of the Dodge Challenger will look like when revealed in February 2008.
I saw a photo of a test vehicle that may reveal a design change from the original concept car.
If you look closely you can see that the front grill does not have the Dodge cross-hair design. Instead it is an open design similar to the one on the 1970 Challenger.

Other photos hinted at a change in the tail lights of the car as well.

Recently while toy shopping, I found an radio controlled Dodge Challenger from "1 Badd Ride" that had a cool redesign of the concept car.

The toy car had redesigned tail lights as well as the open grill from the 1970 Challenger. The Dodge cross-hairs were moved down to the lower air intake opening, replacing the "CARS" movie smile styled opening. The toy car that I bought was silver with black stripes instead of the red version pictured above.

Mopar Enthusiast magazine had some similar concept drawings for their version of the Dodge Challenger.

I hope that Dodge makes the production version similar to these designs.

I've been keeping my eye on any NEWS about the 2009 Dodge Challenger.
The production version will be shown at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2008.

Cerberus, the new owners of Chrysler, may reduce the number of Dodge Challengers that are planned to be produced. This may make it more of a specialty car with a higher price tag in the showroom because of demand by Mopar fans. It has already been announced that the Challenger will not be available in Europe.

Mopar fans hope to get a 6 speed manual transmission as well as an automatic transmission with the 5.7 and 6.1-liter HEMI V8. They also hope for a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 version. Dodge has confirmed that there will be an SRT version of the Challenger.

I hope that there will be a low cost entry level version that will be available with the 3.5-litre V6 and an automatic transmission. Ford offers a similar V6 Pony package on the Mustang.

Apple has updated their all in one iMac computer line-up. Apple has replaced the plastic enclosure for one made from aluminum.

I'll be upgrading to a 24-inch model after the latest version of Mac OS X is released and pre-installed.

Mattel gets the Master Toy License for DC Comics Characters

Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Comics, announced today that it has entered into a multi-year deal with leading worldwide toy manufacturer, Mattel, Inc., which names them master toy licensee for the complete DC Universe property portfolio. Under the terms of this strategic alliance, Mattel is granted unprecedented access to the complete breadth and scope of the DC Comics vault of characters, which includes more than a thousand world-famous DC Super Heroes and Super Villains, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Joker, and The Riddler. Apple introduces the iPhone

iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.

“Every once in a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything,” Jobs said.

Featuring a new input technology called “Multi-Touch” the iPhone features only a single physical button, called “home.” You control the phone by sliding a finger across its touch-sensitive 3.5-inch display, which has a resolution of 320-by-480 pixels at 160 pixels-per-inch display.

The iPhone, which runs Mac OS X, has full iTunes integration and can seamlessly sync data with a Mac, PC, or Internet service, including music and videos from iTunes, contacts, calendars, photos, notes, bookmarks and e-mail accounts.

The 0.46-inch (11.6-millimeter) thick device weighs 4.8 ounces (135 grams) and sports a 2-megapixel camera, volume control, ring-silent switch, 3.5-millimeter headset/audio jack, SIM tray, “sleep-wake” switch, speaker, microphone, and a 30-pin iPod dock connector. The quad-band GSM (850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz) + EDGE phone also has 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities. Jobs noted 3G capabilities will come in the future.

Three smart sensors also help control the iPhone’s behavior. A proximity sensor shuts down the display and touchscreen when the phone is held to the ear. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness to save power. Meanwhile, an accelerometer lets the phone know whether to display in portrait or landscape mode.

Despite the phone’s revolutionary features, Jobs claimed that the phone’s strongest feature was its redefinition of how calls are made. “We want to reinvent the phone,” Jobs said. “What’s the killer app? The killer app is making calls. It’s amazing how hard it is to make calls on phones. We want you to use contacts like never before.”

A Visual Voice-mail feature allows users to skip directly to voice mails they want to hear. An easy-to-use conference call feature lets users connect two calls with one touch of the screen. Text messaging on the iPhone is similar to iChat, with user dialogue encased in bubbles and with familiar iChat sounds, and a touch keyboard appears below for entering text.

The iPhone uses its Wi-Fi and EDGE capabilities to automatically connect to the Internet. Internet connectivity includes HTML-capable e-mail that works with any IMAP or POP3 e-mail service. Jobs also announced that Yahoo will offer free push e-mail—similar to the e-mail system on a Blackberry—to all iPhone customers.

Apple also included its Safari web browser, and the phone can use its Internet capabilities to view standard Web pages, rather than WAP versions of pages. Integrated Google Maps functionality lets users look up locations, search for local businesses, and view satellite imagery. The iPhone also supports Dashboard widgets, and Apple announced it will include weather and stock widgets.

The iPhone’s photo management features are equally interesting. Its software enables users to use a “pinching” motion to zoom in and out of pictures, and to orient pictures in standard or landscape mode. When playing music, the iPhone can automatically adjust levels up or down as calls come in.

The iPhone will come in two versions: a 4GB, $499 model and an 8GB, $599 model. Both will require a two-year contract with Cingular, the exclusive U.S. carrier. Both models will be available beginning in June from Apple Stores and from Cingular.
