MILESTONES: Tara learns Jen Burke's identity from Garganta

Story: Rad Vs. Rad (Countdown to Victory (27 pgs)

Credits:
Bill Black, story; Dick Ayers / Mark Heike / Chad Hunt, art

Synopsis:
Garganta's empathic powers reveal Ms Victory's identity to Tara, and the amazed jungle girl leaves to pick up Jason Burke, who is home alone. She is airlifted by the Avenger and Buckaroo Betty, while Miss Masque goes on ahead to FF HQ to talk with Garganta. Nightveil catches up with the group, who learn about Crimson's attack from Ellen McFarland's TV report, then heads for the Federal Building. Tracking Stardust's path through the black hole, she discovers that the portal forms a direct route to Rur, where she finds Stardust mourning unseen over the warlike ways of her sisters. Returning to Earth, Nightveil agrees to maintain the portal at her sanctum so Stardust can visit Rur when she wishes. Meanwhile, a vengeful Joan Wayne ambushes Lady Luger as the Nazi villainess returns to her lair, and an all-out battle commences at the Mystery World Funhouse. At FF HQ, Tara, the Avenger, and Betty arrive just as Garganta goes berserk from absorbing the personalities of both She-Cat and Synn during her healing of the pair. Elsewhere, Crimson delivers Ms. Victory to Capricorn, expecting her to furnish the giant's next meal. However, the Goat God forms a longer range plan and hypnotically enslaves Jen, returning her to Earth with no memory of the incident to act as his pawn at the time and place of his choosing.

Notes:
Jason must be terribly stressed out; no kid that can walk ten blocks on his own should be sucking his thumb.... Gordon gives McFarland the standard "no comment" when she tries to interview him about Crimson's attack.... Although Tara just now learns Jen Burke's identity, Nightveil has apparently known for some time.... Tara's size requires her to hang outside on the Starjet's rope ladder to get to FF HQ.... Joan's disguise as Rad does not include the short red jacket that normally accompanies the outfit.... Stella is on hand hanging around Garganta and trying (successfully as it turns out) to ingratiate herself with the giantess.... Synn and She-Cat spend most of the issue unconscious until they are revived by Garganta.... Ms. Victory's enslavement by Capricorn, of which she is presently unaware, recalls the Black Shroud's possession of Dragonfly in FF 31(2) and in FF 36 of the Shroud Wars trilogy.... The Avenger flirts with Buckaroo Betty despite his growing attraction to Miss Masque.
