MILESTONES: General Gordon begins plot to eliminate Rad

Story: Cold Turkey (26 pgs)

Credits:
James Misson, plot; Rik Levins, script / pencils; C.B. Gorby, pencils; James Sanders III, inks

Synopsis:
At a top level government meeting, General Gordon plots with his staff to eliminate Rad by "untraceable means," fearing that her altered personality now poses a security risk. Capt. Tom Kelly, who objected to the plan and was thrown out of the meeting by Gordon, places an anonymous call to Colt to warn her of the plot. The Femforce agree that the only way to save Joan is to wean her off the V-45 and convince the government that she is no longer a threat. Stardust enlists the help of her old allies in the Sentinels of Justice and the two teams set out in search of Rad. Joan, meanwhile, has employed her still-formidable scientific skills to develop a youth formula she sells from the back of a health-food store she has opened. The Femforce and Sentinels track her down and a brawl erupts during which Tara and the Scorpion are severely injured. The group succeeds in cutting off Joan from her V-45 supply, weakening her enough to fall to a knockout punch from Paragon. Joan awakens in the hospital two days later, powerless but with her youth and Rad personality intact. She-Cat reaches out to her but is coldly rejected. Sorrowfully, She-Cat and Nightveil, Joan's two original comrades, slip away from the others and solemnly toast the memory of their old friend.

Notes:
Ms. Victory is seen in cameo on Gordon's slide and in a portrait of her, She-Cat and the Blue Bulleteer.... Rip Jaw is seen in cameo on Gordon's slide.... Kelly's memory of being decked by Rad dates this story at about six months after the transformation in Nightveil 7.... Rad's youth formula is a variant of V-47, bestowing youth without super-powers.... Colt is understandably resentful of Paragon's brash assumption of command when the two teams join forces.... Dragonfly is still unsure of herself, thinking out her actions as she goes through them, but she is rapidly gaining confidence.... The hero / heroine community begin to regard the Rad persona as permanent, evidenced by Paragon no longer using the name Joan; and She-Cat and Nightveil mourning their friend.

Synopsis:
She-Cat is hired for protection by a fourteen year-old boy then quits when she learns he is being pursued for his theft of a baseball bat. Appalled by the weak story, she turns on the creative team and uses her slashing claws to bring the tale to an abrupt end.
